Join us for a screening of With This Breath I Fly (Afghanistan/UK/US), a feature-length documentary film by directors Sam French and Clementine Malpas. This film is the Documentary Film Grand Prize Winner of the 2023 Women's Voices Now Film Festival. Shot over ten years, "With This Breath I Fly" follows two courageous Afghan women as they fight for their freedom against a patriarchal Afghan society determined to keep them bound to tribal culture, while exposing the complicity of the European Union in censoring their voices, and how the international press – and this documentary – forever alters the course of their lives. This film is particularly timely as it coincides with the 2nd anniversary of the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan. Following the film, we will have a Q&A with Director Sam French and an Afghani storyteller/activist to better understand if and how we can still support the women of Afghanistan. Reception for guests is included.

Parking is available for $10 on site at UCLA in Parking Structure 3. See campus map for more details: https://map.ucla.edu/?k=false&id=83900 [On the map look for Bridges Theater, we will also have signs.] Doors Open at 6pm for a light reception.

All proceeds from this event benefit the programs and services of Women's Voices Now. We are extremely grateful for your support.
